Australian City of Perth In Lockdown


This just goes to prove that you cannot let your guard down, not for a moment where this pandemic is concerned.

10 months clear of any locally acquired Covid-19 and just one individual can undo all the good work done by the many. Clearly there was a lapse of attention or judgement and that is all it takes.

It seems that a security guard working in a hotel, has been tested positive for Covid-19, possibly with the UK variant.

One should also keep in mind, Australia has not yet started to roll out the vaccine. March appears to be the soonest estimate for vaccinations to start.

Supplies of the vaccines also look to be in jeopardy, as the EU plans to impose restrictions on exports. Restrictions, on vaccine exports, are being put in place to cover shortfalls brought about by the EUs own bureaucracy and ineptitude.

This is potentially a double whammy for WA residents.

EU Bully Boys and Liars


The EU was late to the vaccine table, late placing orders, late signing contracts.

Three months late !!!

To compensate, the EU Bully Boys, tried to steal the UKs contracted orders. They are insisting that vaccine producer, Oxford-AstraZeneca, fulfill EU order shortfalls by diverting the UKs vaccine supplies.

And, while they are arguing with the vaccine suppliers, they thought it would be prudent to effectively shut down the border between the UK and Ireland. The very sticking point that nearly collapsed the Brexit agreement.

They, the EU, invoked Article 16.

This they did without warning and without informing any of the parties involved i.e. UK, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.

Following a flurry of communiques, the EU has made a u-turn, claiming their actions were a mistake, an oversight.

Well that’s just Bollocks !!!

Issuing the paperwork to invoke Article 16 would have required signatures at a very high level.

So, the EU are Bully Boys and Liars.

To me this indicates that the EU, still upset that we had the temerity to leave their club, intend to punish us for Brexit every chance they can.

A Rare Bird


Pre-pandemic the skies over Hampshire were fairly busy, with flights descending into Heathrow, or heading further north, interspersed with those heading to a myriad of international destinations.

Latterly, as we all know, the number of flights worldwide are very much reduced. So much so that the sound of a flight, mid evening, triggered my curiosity.

So, flying overhead was this flight.

Originating in Spain from Madrid and heading into London Heathrow, with just 10 more minutes flying time.

I’m guessing that the, near silent, Hampshire airspace will become quieter still, as fewer people are prepared to travel when the UKs new rules are activated on Monday.

About time, this action is long overdue.

Our borders have been about as effective as a sieve. With checks being applied too late, and without a fully functional track and trace process, we have allowed visitors to the UK free rein.

It’s no wonder that we find ourselves in this state.

If there is a need ? Where does the bloody “if” come from ?

Of course there is a need. Has he not seen the news. The numbers of sick and dying increasing. The NHS bordering on collapse.

Surely the default should have been a steady increase of vaccinations to match the availability. Then steadily increasing to 24/7 provision until this pandemic is quashed.

The more people vaccinated will surely help alleviate the NHS overload.

I don’t understand our governments “softly softly” approach to everything to do with this pandemic. Slow to the harsher tiers, slow to full lock down, slow to hard border controls. And why so slow to enforcement ?

We should be giving vaccinations 24/7 now !!!

What An Embarrassment

What an embarrassment Donald Trump is for the American people.

Trump loses an election, but is claiming fraudulent counts. Despite losing several legal challenges to those counts, he still refuses to accept that he lost. In the death throws of his presidency he has resorted to browbeating elected state level officials and also election staff, trying to persuade them to, fraudulently, amend legal vote counts in his favour. In other words, the wishes of the people, as declared through their votes, mean nothing to him.

Doesn’t this show how little he cares for the US people ?

Furthermore Trump then continually stirs up his supporters with these false claims and additionally inciting them to march on the Capitol, where the final steps in the process of ratifying Biden as the winner of the presidential election are underway. And march they do, subsequently breaking into the building and creating carnage and mayhem. Apart from the damage to the building, five people died and many more were injured.

Further evidence of lack of respect for the due process of democracy.

Trump has to accept responsibility for the actions of the rioters, his “heroes”, his clockwork soldiers.

As the tide of public opinion turned against the rioters, and Trumps part in this disgraceful event, even his own supporters are distancing themselves from him. Even his own VP Mike Pence refused to obey him and supported the ratification of Biden !!

And as usual, seeing the way public opinion is swinging against him, Trump has turned about face and attacked those same folks he encouraged, just a few hours earlier. Those same folks that have been added to the FBI’s Most Wanted list. Added for rioting, carrying unlicensed weapons and damaging public properties and buildings in the Capitol. The FBI are also hunting for whoever placed two explosive devices, pipe bombs, at two locations around the Capitol.

“He is the ‘most incompetent president’ in US history” So says Joe Biden.

I couldn’t agree more. What I can’t understand is the reluctance to invoke the 25th Amendment. Or why Trump hasn’t been impeached. There must be overwhelming evidence to support either action.

I understand that time, until the Biden inauguration, is short. But there is still time for a Trump tantrum. Still time for some last Trump actions to cause further embarrassment for the USA.

And, does he still have the launch codes ?
