These are just two of the four squirrels that were tearing around in our garden.

Sadly, the one on the left has lost most of the skin and fur from the top of his head. It was looking very sore from the nose up to between the ears. Possibly had an encounter with next doors cats.

Apologies for the poor quality of the photo, I did try to clean it up a bit. This was taken on my phone, from about fifteen feet away and through the double glazing, hence the reflections.

If Only He Had A Brain Cell

So this man said he had travelled 100 miles, whilst under lockdown, ‘for a McDonald’s’

BBC News – Covid-19: Man said he had travelled 100 miles ‘for a McDonald’s’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-55695408

He travelled over 100 miles to a town that does not have a McDonald’s !!!

Not only that, police discovered there was no valid insurance in place. This meant his vehicle was not legally on the road.

As a result his car was confiscated.

The man was fined £200 for his “flagrant breach” of lockdown regulations, making an unnecessary journey away from his home area.

In addition to the loss of his vehicle, presumably he also incurred the cost of getting back home.

Had this guy had at least a single brain cell he would not have brought himself to the attention of the police.

He deserves the full weight of the law.

A Rare Bird

Pre-pandemic the skies over Hampshire were fairly busy, with flights descending into Heathrow, or heading further north, interspersed with those heading to a myriad of international destinations.

Latterly, as we all know, the number of flights worldwide are very much reduced. So much so that the sound of a flight, mid evening, triggered my curiosity.

So, flying overhead was this flight.

Originating in Spain from Madrid and heading into London Heathrow, with just 10 more minutes flying time.

I’m guessing that the, near silent, Hampshire airspace will become quieter still, as fewer people are prepared to travel when the UKs new rules are activated on Monday.

This glorious plant is waving to me from my next door neighbours garden. I have no idea what it is.

Anyone Know What This Is ?

Does anyone know what it is ?

“If There Is A Need”

From the BBC ….

Vaccinations minister Nadhim Zahawi says they could open 24 hours a day, if there is need

What planet is Zahawi on ?

If there is a need ? Where does the bloody “if” come from ?

Of course there is a need. Has he not seen the news. The numbers of sick and dying increasing. The NHS bordering on collapse.

Surely the default should have been a steady increase of vaccinations to match the availability. Then steadily increasing to 24/7 provision until this pandemic is quashed.

The more people vaccinated will surely help alleviate the NHS overload.

I don’t understand our governments “softly softly” approach to everything to do with this pandemic. Slow to the harsher tiers, slow to full lock down, slow to hard border controls. And why so slow to enforcement ?

We should be giving vaccinations 24/7 now !!!

Frustration

Today my wife received a text from our local GP Surgery, inviting her to make an appointment to have the Covid-19 vaccine.

Within 10 minutes, of receiving the text, we had contacted the surgery only to be told that they were not making anymore vaccination appointments.

Apparently there are vaccine supply issues !!!

This is not an auspicious start to the roll out of the vaccine.

Given the accelerated spread of Covid-19 these are scary times. So to be offered the vaccine, then to have it snatched away, is very frustrating.

Why ?

I have just read this article about Christmas decorations being vandalised.

Residents in Whiteley have suggested that youths with ‘bladed weapons’ are the culprits.

It shouldn’t be the case, but I never cease to be amazed by the depths people are prepared to descend.

Given the difficult times we are navigating, why would anyone deliberately set out to cause grief and aggravation for the homeowners and spoil the pleasure for everyone.

This is such a selfish and thoughtless act.

I hope that they are caught and punished.

MPs to no longer receive pay rise

http://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-mps-to-no-longer-receive-pay-rise-of-more-than-1633000-after-ipsa-u-turns-due-to-pandemic-impact-12158160

Giving MPs a £3000 pay rise at this time, would have been immoral. Also, a slap in the face, to the hundreds of thousands of British people, who have lost so much financially and personally, during the pandemic.

It’s the right decision. Indeed, given Britain’s financial state and the economical hard road yet to be travelled, I find it hard to forsee that such a pay rise would be acceptable anytime soon.

BBC News: Rita Ora apologises for second breach of Covid lockdown restrictions

Throw the book at her, for her blatant and shameless disregard for the rules, that most people are abiding by.

BBC News – Rita Ora apologises for second breach of Covid lockdown restrictions https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-55213784

She is not a good role model.

Celebrity does not give you a free pass to act like a little princess.

She obviously thinks that saying “sorry” and splashing the cash will get her out of trouble.

Crass Stupidity

‘High Value’ Business Travellers’ Quarantine Exemption Branded ‘Dangerous And Elitist’ https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/business-travellers-exemption-from-quarantine-branded-dangerous-and-elitist_uk_5fc9ea49c5b63a153450c4bd

If our government goes ahead with this relaxation of rules, for “High Value” business travellers, they deserve all the vitriol coming their way.

Covid-19 doesn’t discriminate between rich and poor.

If we are going to truly protect this country then the quarantine rules need to be applied, strictly and fairly, to everyone who travels outside of the UK.

No exceptions.

Wake up Boris, this makes no sense.
