Enough Is Enough

When is the UK government going to wake up ?

It’s not Boris Johnsons fault that these folks are homeless. It’s not Priti Patels fault that they are trekking across europe.

But it is their fault that Britains stance is not strong enough to deter them from trying to cross the channel in an ever growing armada of boats that are not fit for purpose.

They know that we will look after them when they arrive on our beaches. This is wrong.

What they should know is that we will give them a bottle of water and a packet of sandwiches and that they will be put on a boat and transported back to France, or whichever country their ill conceived voyage started from.

These people should be put on a boat and returned to the coast of their departure. This could be done within 24 hours. Just return them to the beach from which they started their crossing.

When are european countries going shoulder some responsibility and take action to stem the tide ?

I like to consider myself quite laid back, liberal minded and definitely not racist, but I find myself becoming more and more angry when ever I watch the news.

The bleeding hearts on the media will tell you that these people are destitute, oppressed and fleeing from danger.

They are not.

They are crossing the channel from France, and other countries. These people may have come from war torn countries but they don’t stop travelling once they have arrived in a safe country. They carry on migrating through safe countries with one destination in mind, Great Britain.

They are not destitute, if the media is to be believed. They are paying way over the odds to criminals so they can cross the channel in small overloaded boats. I have seen £5000 as a figure, the fee they pay to criminal gangs. This is many times more expensive than crossing legally on a ferry or via the channel tunnel.

So why don’t they cross in the same way as you or I would do ?

They haven’t got a passports or a visa. You or I, trying to cross legally, would be turned back at the border ….. IN FRANCE. And don’t forget, most of them are not EU citizens either so they, even if they have retained their passports, do not have the same rights as EU citizens for cross border travel.

Lets also not forget the security issues associated with taking these people under our collective wings. These aren’t families making this crossing. Some are, and some are unaccompaied children who have been put in these boats and cast off with no thoughts to their continued safety. Who would send their children off into the unknown? Predominantly though, they are young men. Young men who have left their homes and families behind. I don’t doubt that some are  truly fleeing from awful conditions. But not all. Many have their eye on the handouts that the UK is renowned for. I also believe that some of these young men have darker intent.

Isn’t anyone worried by the large numbers of fit young men that are crossing into our country ? How many of them are ISIS sleepers ? Men that could be slipping ino the UK with ill intent for our future.

It’s time our government gave some teeth to our security forces and let them turn the tide of this illicit trade and send a strong message across the world.

“You are not welcome”.

BBC News – Shamima Begum: IS bride set to be granted legal aid
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47934721

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong

The moment Miss Begum chose the terrorist life, she gave up her rights to any legal help from this country.

She chose to support a group of people who took away the rights of hundreds and thousands of innocent people.

Why should we grant her any rights ?

Is Soldier F getting legal aid ?

Shit Shambles

brexit

I am embarrassed by the way in which the elected representatives from all parties are scrabbling over   just to score points.

Once the referendum results were in the act of leaving the EU became a non political issue.

All parties should be working together to ensure that the UK came out of this cleanly.

Instead all the MPs seem to be dancing gleefully, denouncing Theresa Mays efforts, pushing for a general election.

It’s like they are on an express train heading down the mountainside, they are all fighting to be the engine driver but not one of them actually knows how to drive the train.

Brexit was always going to be a complicated and difficult issue.

The EU were always going to make it difficult for us to leave.

They will exact their pound of flesh from the UK, just because we had the temerity to vote leave.

The rest of the world is watching from the side lines. Like neighbours watching a husband and wife brawl in the street.

Now is the time to pull together, stop the infighting, and put on a united front. Show the world what makes Britain Great.

Stop this shit shambles now.

It’s Embarrasing

Over 50% of UK citizens, that voted in the referendum, voted leave.

Not what I would call an overwhelming show of hands, but a significant indicator of the way the country was leaning at the time.

This was not a Labour vs Conservative political vote. Not a party political vote.

The result of the referendum was that the conservatives were handed the poison chalice, as they were the party in power.

Not one of the opposition parties have proposed a viable solution to what is a very complex problem. That is because, none of them have a clue as to how Brexit can be made to work cleanly. What they all saw, was a golden opportunity to stick the boot into the conservatives.

All I have heard since then is how the conservatives are selling us down the river, Theresa May should step down, there should be another election … blah blah blah.

Can anyone direct me to where Corbyn has described a viable alternative ? What is the Green solution ?

Instead, Corbyn, and all the other party leaders are sitting back, sowing dissent and waiting for this government to fall flat on its face.

If all these nay sayers believe they have a better solution why haven’t they put forward their ideas. In a non- political way, in a let’s all pull together fashion.

What they should be doing is ensuring that Britain gets the best deal possible. If that means putting party politics aside then they should do it. Recognise the importance of this moment in history and offer their help.

If Britain falls on its face it will be a black mark for all Britain’s political parties. All the back stabbing and infighting has been in full view on an international stage. The political shenanigans have given the world, and especially the EU, more laughs than an evening at The Edinburgh Fringe.

Right now I feel very sad for Britain. Prior to the referendum the British people were lied to by Leavers and Remainers alike. The lies and misinformation have continued since

National pride or rather a form of national pride got us into this mess.

National pride could and should, with all parties pulling together, provide us with a viable solution.

National pride should override all the intra and inter party fighting.

Its time to stop all this political posturing, it’s embarrassing.

Magistrate accused of damage to cars in Portsmouth !!!

Man faces magistrate accused of damage to cars in Portsmouth – Portsmouth News.

Good Grief !!!

This is the standard of journalism that is deemed acceptable in our local paper ……. ???

Man faces magistrate accused of damage to cars in Portsmouth

I saw this and immediately thought it was an article about a magistrate that had gone on a rampage and about the man that stood up to him.

Even the most basic word processor software has contextual and grammar checking alongside the standard spelling checkers. However, it seems that The News can’t afford to employ staff who can use it.

The following, pulled from the same article, is another example of the awkward phrasing that regularly appears in News articles.

Gavin Knight, 31, of Parade Court, Hilsea, denied to a magistrate damaging the vehicles in Wingfield Street, Turner Road and Watts Road, Portsmouth, on Saturday.

We regularly hear complaints, from employers, that our schools are not supplying new hire candidates with adequate standards of education. Isn’t it about time that our media mouth pieces set a decent example.

Snow lovers leave beauty spot in a mess – Morons

Total bloody morons – Hang Your Heads In Shame

I’m otherwise speechless. No I take that back.

I am gobsmacked and enraged  by some of the comments that have been left on The News website. There are some morons out there that have commented that they are OK with this litter being left behind, as it keeps someone else employed, that this litter being left by “Joe Public” is down to the incompetence of the people who manage this beauty spot.

I’ve no issue with people dropping litter, keeps someone in a job cleaning it up.

that this litter being left by “Joe Public” is down to the incompetence of the people who manage this beauty spot.

Unfortunately this has occurred due to the abject incompetence of those tasked with taking care of the area.

It is attitudes like those that make me ashamed to be English.

How can it possibly be acceptable, to anyone with more than a single brain cell, for anyone to leave a beauty spot in this state.

Cowards !!!

What is this country coming too ?

There are mindless thugs out there who don’t think twice before attacking the elderly, the frail and the disabled

It makes me ashamed to think that there are such cowardly people walking the streets of this country, makes me ashamed to be English.

The News has recently reported this attack on a partially sighted man from Fareham.

Richard Twose, who is partially blind, was walking Bates near his home on Redlands Lane, Fareham, when he heard the dog yelp out in pain.

The 35-year-old told The News: ‘I’d been in the house all day so I felt guilty that I hadn’t walked Bates.

‘I decided to take him out for walk. That’s when I heard him yelp in pain.

‘I turned around and a split second later I was pushed into the fence and kicked in the stomach.’

There is no way that Richards attackers didn’t know that their victim was blind and the fact that they attacked his guide dog first says a lot about their mentality.

Someone out their knows who these cretins are. Do the right thing and hand them over to the police

Police are appealing for witnesses. If you can help, call PC John Cupper on 101.
Man and his guide dog beaten up in vicious unprovoked attack – Local – Portsmouth News.

Still on the subject of cowardly attacks, recently a man riding his mobility scooter was attacked …..

Thugs tried to rob a man riding a mobility scooter. The gang struck in Waterlooville, with one of the attackers brandishing a knife at the 61-year-old victim. But the disabled man punched the youth in the face before riding away to make his escape. The incident happened just before 4pm on Wednesday, November 21 at the junction of Mill Road and Novello Gardens.

Police said anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Smithers at Waterlooville Police Station on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

I would never advocate vigilantism but a part of me hopes that the attackers of these two victims are identified, and that they get their just deserts. I say this because my fear is that the punishment that they will receive at the hands of the courts will never match the hurt and trauma meted out to their victims.

Russian ambassador’s regret over medal row – Britains Shame

Britain’s Shame !!!

The convoys kept Russia supplied to keep fighting the Nazis on Germany’s eastern front. But while the Ushakov medal has been handed to veterans from Australia, Canada and the United States for their role in the convoys, the British government is refusing to allow it to be given to British veterans.

When our stuffy government sticks by rules that are both antiquated and unfair then they should be ashamed and so should we as a nation.

There is no time limit on valour. There is no time limit on doing ones duty. There should be no time limit on recognising duty and valour.

The Russians clearly recognise this

In a letter seen by The News, Alexander Yakovenko told veterans the Russian Embassy in London has ‘profound regret’ that the British government will not allow them to be decorated.

‘Under the circumstances the embassy only has to express its profound regret that while the authorities of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA have granted permission to the veterans of the Arctic Convoys to be awarded the Ushakov Medal, we are not in a position to honour in the same way the courage and sacrifice of the British heroes of the Arctic Convoys.

The full Russian Embassy Press Release can be found here

This issue has been the subject of a motion put before the British parliament but to no avail and some are addressing the Russian Embassy directly to request that they ignore the British Governments appalling decision and go ahead and award the medal….. See here

The “five-year” criteria is a farce and has been waived by the British Government in recent times.

Next year, 2013, will be the Year Of The Convoy

Although I have posted on this subject before I think “Keith at Tregenna” states the issue very clearly so I’ll close with the following quotes from him.

The Foreign Office state that the rules of acceptance of foreign awards had to have taken place within the previous five years or that permission cannot be granted if they have received a UK award for the same services. This is somewhat contradictory to the award of the Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal for those who served in operations in Malaya/Malaysia between August 1957 and August 1966. This medal was first struck in 2005 and in 2011 unrestricted permission was given by Her Majesty The Queen for the acceptance and wearing of this medal, even though those who served in this theatre had already received the British General Service Medal, with additional Malaya/Borneo Clasp.

the award of the Naval GSM and GSM with Suez Canal Zone Clasp which was awarded in 2003 to those who had served between 16th October 1951 and 19th October 1954. This award was also originally subject to the five-year rule and should not be considered, which was later changed and the Honours and Decorations Committee endorsed the recommendation.

It would seem rather ironic considering the Prime Ministers recent speech the other day on national television in regard to the millions of pounds, rightly so, the Government are going to put into the forthcoming 100th Anniversary of the start of WWI, as an act of remembrance to educate those at school and the sacrifice made by so many, but they are not willing to consider an award to those veterans of WWII still living by stating a rule that has been overturned with previous awards.
