Police Get Tough With Nuisance Drivers

Great work.

It’s good to see that our local bobbies are getting tough with the hoons. Can we have more of the same, but in the Horndean / Waterlooville area

Over two days of a preplanned operation, the police spotted 66 vehicles speeding, which gives a sense of the scale of the problem.

One of those vehicles was doing 86 mph in a 40 zone.

More positive news …

It just to show that the British Bobby is as tenacious as his Canadian counterpart. He will always get his man.

Keep Up The Good Work

Many motorbike riders were punished, with the police stopping multiple and seizing vehicles on Saturday. Havant Police reported on Facebook: “One driver was stopped due to careless and inconsiderate driving and was arrested for failing to appear at court for drug driving.

“Another driver was found to have no insurance, his vehicle was seized and he was issued with six points and a £300 fine. Other drivers were dealt with for no seat belts, no MOT’s and keeping vehicles on the road without tax.”

The force added that visible police work would continue to reduce anti-social behaviour and keep residents safe.

It’s always good to see some positive results from the hard work that our local police put in.

Please carry on doing what you are doing, keep up the good work.

Hooning About

Saturday night / Sunday morning, and the hoons are at play. Judging by the different engine notes, there are three or four different vehicles out there on the B2150/A3(M) intersection.

They started around 00:25 and as I write this it is 01:19 and they are still out there. We get a little respite, and then they come back again.

They have no consideration for anyone with their high engine revs, loud exhausts popping and banging, and the squealing tyres.

I don’t believe they have a single brain cell to share between them.

I won’t call 999 as it isn’t an emergency situation, I tried calling 101, but it is not much use when you are placed in a queue. And then, even if the police were to deploy a car, the hoons would scatter.

I wish this country had hoon laws like they have in Australia. Give the police the power to confiscate cars used in an antisocial manner.

Portsmouth Car Meet Driver Sentenced

Another positive result for our local police but sadly at the expense of onlookers who were injured by his acts.

The 17 year old driver hit four people, two suffering serious injuries requiring them to be taken to hospital. The other two suffered minor injuries.

At his court hearing, the defendant was banned from driving for two years and will have to undertake an extended test to regain his licence. He was also handed a referral order and was referred to Hampshire Youth Offender Panel for a six-month contract.

Only 17 so he wasn’t “legally” driving for very long and has already lost his license. He will have to retake his test to get it back.

This youth could so easily have been facing a manslaughter charge and be spending time in prison.

Let’s hope he has learnt something from this.

Jon I Empathise

Jon Cole, I empathise with you and your experience. I, too, live in an area plagued by these motoring miscreants.

And also, wish the police and local authorities would focus more time on these “law breakers.” For law breakers, they are, with their modified engines and exhaust systems which are exceeding the noise limits of the original manufacturers specifications.

As to their manner of driving, be it excess acceleration or drifting local roundabouts and motorway slip roads to the point their tyres are screeching, they must be breaking numerous laws. Just by ear, I can tell that they are probably speeding and driving in an unsafe manner.

The police know the popular routes and would only need to make their presence known regularly to make an impression.

So come on, let’s see some action.
