At the age of 71, Reg Presley, lead singer of The Troggs, has died.
He died at home, just over a year after announcing that he had lung cancer and was calling a halt to performing with the band. This, after 40 years of touring. He had also suffered a number of strokes in recent times.
Reg will be remembered for his performances with 60’s band, The Troggs, with whom he had a string of hits. They contributed much to the soundtrack of my early years seemingly always on the radio and with many appearances on TV. Black and white of course. Their most famous hit was with “Wild Thing”, but they also had success with others such as “Love is All Around”, “I Can’t Control Myself” and “With a Girl Like You”. The Troggs released many singles over the period from 1966 through to 1993 though none were to be as successful as “Wild Thing” which was re-released in various forms including a reggae version.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Reg will be missed but not forgotten. He has, along with the band, left a glorious legacy.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with the titular claim, these are scary and amazing.
I received the link and the following text in an email
The first 10 seconds shows a clip from the Top Gun movie when Tom Cruise does a fly-by of the control tower.
The rest shows actual LOW PASS FLY-BYS.
Pay attention to the last one. It is numbered (#1) and it happened during a Blue Angels event over San Francisco . It was the pilots’ last show and he had nothing to lose.
Many of the boats lost windows to the sonic blast. Some of these planes were probably no more than 10 feet off the ground.

It has been reported that Patty Andrews has died at the age of 94.
The Andrews Sisters close harmonies have given, and continue to give great pleasure whenever I hear them singing. Dated they may be but the songs always make me smile. Here are a couple of tunes to remind you and as a tribute to Patty and the gang.
Singer Patti Page, passed away on New Year’s Day. She was 85.
Best known for her hits “Tennessee Waltz” and “(How Much Is That) Doggie In The Window”, Page had hits throughout the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. She was still actively touring, with performances at up to 50 concerts a year, right up to her death.
More recently her reputation was revitalised by the White Stripes when they covered her 1952 song “Conquest” on their “Icky Thump” album.
Page is survived by her two children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren
