RIP “Eggman” – RAF Red Arrows

Death Of A Hero

We tend to forget that these guys don’t just join the RAF to entertain us.

Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging had already seen active service before becoming part of the Red Arrows and it would appear, if news reports are accurate, that he died trying to ensure that his stricken plane didn’t crash into populated areas.

My thoughts are with his wife Emma and his family at this time.

England is NOT in moral decline – So Says Blair

“England is NOT in moral decline” says Tony Blair.

Well he would say that wouldn’t he. To say anything else would mean that he has to admit that it was happening during his tenure as Prime Minister let alone during Gordon Browns miserable term in the hot seat.

It would also mean admitting that he is a hypocrite since he actually made political points when in opposition by referring to a wider ‘moral breakdown’ in society at the time of the  Jamie Bulger murder.

Tony Blair and the Labour Government presided over the biggest drop in national pride, allowed more moral laxity than any prior governments.

Sorry Tony, you had your head up your arse when you were Prime Minister and it’s still there. Its time you came up for air, got your head out of the darkness and took a long hard look at what is really going on.

Sick cat owner who microwaved his pet walks free from court

Words fail me, this person should be locked up. How on earth did he not get locked up. The rioters and looters got harsher sentences for stealing water !!!

Stephen Stacey put this poor cat through hell just because it scratched him. No doubt he was tormenting the cat in the first place.

Tone Deaf and Sleep Deprived

So the opening program for the latest round of excruciating boredom was watched by 10.5 million viewers.

The question is why ?

I reckon it’s because there are 10.5 million tone-deaf sleep deprived people in this country and they put this program on so that they can be bored to sleep.  If you like music why would you watch this ?

I’ll grant you that there have been some good singers that have percolated through and have lasted for more than a couple of years. The rest have faded back into obscurity where they came from. Does anyone remember Steve Brookstein the winner of the first series and if you do remember his name do you know what his first single was ?

Don’t worry this isn’t a test and there are no prizes, it was a cover of Phil Collins  “Against All Odds

My point is that this program has a single purpose and that is to make money for Simon Cowell and his cronies. It is possible that some real talent will be discovered en route but that is by the by. The winner of the show will also probably make a lot of money and, if they play the game, will have some kind of career.

The winner has the dubious honour of gaining a 1 million pound recording contract with Syco.  Guess who owns that ? Yup Simon Cowell. Oh by the way the X-Factor TV programs are also produced by Syco.

I’d say that Mr Cowell has things nicely sewn up.

ME TV

So Channel 5 are bringing back Big Brother. WHY ?

In my mind it is nothing but  Peeping Tom TV / Viewing For Voyeurs / Me TV and a total and utter waste of viewing time.

Over the several series broadcast by Channel 4 many friends and work colleagues tried to convince me that the program was worth watching. And I did try to watch it on numerous occasions but I just couldn’t keep my attention focussed or my eyes open. There was no story line, no plot, nothing to guide you as to its purpose. Quite often there were just mindless loud mouthed nobodies performing for the camera.

Their actions just a desperate shout of  “Don’t look at them, look at ME !!!”

Its rumoured that they, Endemol and Channel Five, are spending in the region of £220 million to try and drag 20 million viewers to Channel 5. The money would have been better spent on bringing  decent drama to our screens. There are just too many fly-on-the-wall programs, too many talent shows on all the channels.

Mindless TV.

Where is the stimulation for the masses ? Bring back proper entertainment and stop flooding our living rooms with wannabe celebrities.

And just a thought … George Orwell in his novel, 1984, introduced us to Big Brother.

Big Brother was actually the state (the few) watching the masses. I think in the case of the TV show the telescope is back to front.

Sentences For Rioters and Inciters “Too Harsh” – No Way

Many critics of the government are saying that the sentences, being handed out for those involved in the riots and associated looting and property damage, are too harsh.

Well, needless to say, I disagree.

This kind of response has been a long time coming. Was long, long overdue. Finally criminals can immediately experience the consequences of their actions. Why allow them to languish at home for months on end, able to go out and contemplate more mayhem. While we, the law-abiding public, wait months for them to appear in court only to be set free again with a wrist slap.

Lets now apply this to the anti-social herberts that infest our housing estates. Let them feel the swift and forceful application of punishment for ignoring the laws of this land. Let them be scooped up and locked away.

We have, over many years, allowed this countries morality to slip due in the main to the PC Brigade who have forced the introduction of the softly softly approach.

Parents must not slap their children. Teachers cannot administer corporal punishment. For goodness sake, my wife worked in an office block where the security guards were not allowed to touch an abusive client threatening violence, to escort him off site, unless he actually physically attacked a member of staff. All total madness.

Those do-gooders that have shouted out loud for the human-rights of the minority, the perpetrators of antisocial acts while forgetting about the human-rights of the majority, the victims of those anti-social acts.

I am hoping that the tough sentencing that is being applied now will become the norm for other anti-social offenders passing through our courts.

Teenagers arrested after Southsea house party gets out of hand

And my teenage granddaughter wonders why her mum won’t let her have a party. It’s not that she isn’t trusted although she has had her moments. It’s the fact that her mates can’t be trusted to keep the party to just their own close circle. Kids like to think that they are bullet proof and streetwise but they can be so naive. Things get out of hand so quickly now that the kids are connected by Blackberry, SMS, twitter and Facebook.

And all the sorry’s after the fact will not fix any problems that occur.

Maybe They Can’t Be Prosecuted But They Should Be Named And Shamed

UK riots 2011: Child looters aged 11 and 12 let off with slap on the wrist | Mail Online.

Maybe, by law, these kids are too young to be prosecuted but they should be named and shamed and have their pictures published alongside their parents.

Personally I don’t believe that they are too young to be prosecuted and if necessary locked up. They are for the most part old enough to know right from wrong and they already think that they are untouchable.

Too many parents are saying that they can’t control their own kids. Can’t keep them at home and in bed at a reasonable hour. Recently on a TV news program one parent was saying that he isn’t allowed to lock up his own kids, isn’t allowed to hit them, was asking how he was supposed to control his kids when all their mates are out doing god knows what.

Well our PC society has tied his hands in the same way that we tied the hands of our police and our courts. Its time to come up with a new way of dealing with underage criminals.

Time to introduce a “SUCK IT AND SEE” option for parents and their kids. Lets let them spend a weekend in prison. Let them experience what prison life is about and see where their actions are taking them.

Your A Disgrace

UK RIOTS 2011: Clamour grows to strip looters of benefits and council homes | Mail Online.

As the courts hand out tough sentences to those involved in the criminal activities of the last few days and nights, I have a request for the government and for the police.

Please don’t stop with the looters.

Move on to the anti social yobbos that, on a daily basis, make people’s lives a misery on the many housing estates around this country.

Apply the tough policing and the tough sentencing to the people that we have had to put up with for years.

Let the momentum that has been unleashed by recent events carry forward and lets use it to clean up our streets.

We will track you down, we will find you, we will charge you, we will punish you. You will pay for what you have done

So said the Prime Minister.

I just hope that he has the resolve to see it through and to provide the police and the courts with the support they need to implement his words
