50 Years – Would You Believe It ?

I was nearly ten when 41-year-old John Glenn clambered aboard the Friendship 7 Mercury capsule. How many of you out there remember watching this and the many subsequent launches. First in glorious Black and White and then in colour a few years later.

John Glenn was launched back into space aboard Space Shuttle Discovery in 1998 when he was 77. Glenn is now 90 years young. A true hero, having served in the Pacific during World War II he then saw action in the Korean War. Preparation perhaps for his greatest mission with NASA as part of the space program.

It was marvelous back then and I am still in awe of what was achieved then and what is being achieved now.
