Adventures in the Antipodes

Grand title. Hopefully I will find something of interest to back it up.

My wife and I have begun a holiday in WA (Western Australia). So, for the next few weeks my posts will be centred around Perth. We are planning to take a trip down south, perhaps taking in Esperance, Albany, Augusta and Margaret River.

We have been down there before but we hope to spend a bit more time and explore the area.

Then later on we are intending to head up north.

We have previously visited Geraldton, Denham and Monkey Mia to see the dolphins. But the intention is to go further up, possibly as far as Broome.

This will be the first of, we hope, many trips down under. Now we are retired we have the freedom to take off for as long as we like.

Originally I had thought we could do a complete circumnavigation of Australia. Prudence has taken over and the plan is to make several, more focused trips.

WA first, then perhaps Victoria based around Melbourne so we can take in the F1 Grand Prix or perhaps the tennis. After that, maybe we’ll head up  to Darwin or Cairns, not forgetting the Red Centre Uluru and Alice Springs.

Lots planned for the future as long as mind, body and bank account hold up.

We only arrived in Perth about ten hours ago. Jet-lag has forced me up after just over four hours sleep. Not much of a battery recharge having been up and mostly awake for the previous thirty hours, or so.

So, after a short scene setter, I’ll  sign off. Back soon with more words and, hopefully some interesting photos.

Travels Under An African Sky – Perth to Africa

A taster of my grandson’s African tour. Seems he has acquired the typical Ozzie wanderlust, as he has been putting in the miles this year.

How Very Rude

Today was a good day. I will reveal all in a future post.

This post will concentrate on this evening.

We have just returned from a concert at the Astor Theatre, Mount Lawley, Perth where we have just seen Hot Chocolate perform.

This post is aimed directly to at a group of ignorant, rude and disrespectful folks seated in the middle of rows M and N of the stalls.

Hot Chocolates support act was a solo acoustic performer, Jason Ayers, a local Perth talent. He was really quite good, performing a number of his own compositions along with some more well-known songs. Unfortunately, we could not give him the attention he deserved due to the noise of the prats seated in Rows M and N.

To you, the rude, the ignorant, the disrespectful I say

  1. If you were not interested in the support act, why didn’t you stay out of the theatre until Hot Chocolate came on ?
  2. I call you rude because you inflicted your conversation on the rest of the audience, most of whom were actually interested in listening to Jason Ayres.

  3. I call you disrespectful because you couldn’t care less about your fellow audience members who had paid good money just to listen to your inane chatter.
  4. I call you disrespectful because there was a young man on stage who was trying to entertain and you didn’t give him a chance.
  5. I call you ignorant because you appear to be totally devoid of the basics of socializing in a public place.

I hope you are pleased that you have annoyed me enough to write this post. You probably view this as confirmation of your own self importance. Your rudeness was noted by several other members of the audience who commented to me and other members of our party.

You are yet another example of what is wrong with society today.

Birthdays

Today is being celebrated by our family on two sides of Planet Earth.

Here in the UK it is my Aunty Kathy’s 90th Birthday. We had a celebratory gathering on Sunday but I know Kathy is out with her daughter today. Hope she has a lovely day…..

Happy Birthday Kathy xxx

Also celebrating today, way down under, in the antipodes is Caitlin. Living down in Perth, W.A. Although we cannot be there to help her celebrate we are thinking of her. Here’s hoping she also has a lovely day ….

Happy Birthday Caitlin xxx
