Sentences For Rioters and Inciters “Too Harsh” – No Way

Many critics of the government are saying that the sentences, being handed out for those involved in the riots and associated looting and property damage, are too harsh.

Well, needless to say, I disagree.

This kind of response has been a long time coming. Was long, long overdue. Finally criminals can immediately experience the consequences of their actions. Why allow them to languish at home for months on end, able to go out and contemplate more mayhem. While we, the law-abiding public, wait months for them to appear in court only to be set free again with a wrist slap.

Lets now apply this to the anti-social herberts that infest our housing estates. Let them feel the swift and forceful application of punishment for ignoring the laws of this land. Let them be scooped up and locked away.

We have, over many years, allowed this countries morality to slip due in the main to the PC Brigade who have forced the introduction of the softly softly approach.

Parents must not slap their children. Teachers cannot administer corporal punishment. For goodness sake, my wife worked in an office block where the security guards were not allowed to touch an abusive client threatening violence, to escort him off site, unless he actually physically attacked a member of staff. All total madness.

Those do-gooders that have shouted out loud for the human-rights of the minority, the perpetrators of antisocial acts while forgetting about the human-rights of the majority, the victims of those anti-social acts.

I am hoping that the tough sentencing that is being applied now will become the norm for other anti-social offenders passing through our courts.

Teenagers arrested after Southsea house party gets out of hand

And my teenage granddaughter wonders why her mum won’t let her have a party. It’s not that she isn’t trusted although she has had her moments. It’s the fact that her mates can’t be trusted to keep the party to just their own close circle. Kids like to think that they are bullet proof and streetwise but they can be so naive. Things get out of hand so quickly now that the kids are connected by Blackberry, SMS, twitter and Facebook.

And all the sorry’s after the fact will not fix any problems that occur.
